Food Service Specialties was founded in 1985 and is currently celebrating 25 years of bringing premium sauces, dips and dressings to our customers. Originally based in Columbus, Wisconsin, we gained our initial expertise in sauce making by making private-label pizza and pasta sauces for pizza restaurant chains. We discovered an opportunity to supply these chains with fresher, higher quality, and consistent pizza sauces in Cryovac™ pouches. Our success at matching the taste of restaurant sauces while producing a volume product gave our customers with multiple locations the ability to serve the same sauce at every location.
The growth of our customer base in the food service arena naturally led to making retail-size sauces for many of the leading Italian restaurants and chains. These chains recognized an opportunity to expand their customer base by putting their private label on the shelves of their local supermarkets. Today we are producing these sauces for hundreds of chains nationwide, both for the back of the house in their restaurants, and the retail jar that is on the grocery shelf in their respective communities.
